(Redmond, Washington) — Vanson HaloSource today announced
the launch of HaloFresh Coolant Xtender, a cutting fluid treatment
system that destroys odors to extend the life of coolants and
lubricants.
Using current methods for odor control, offensive
odors force disposal of cutting fluid long before the end of
its useful life. By prolonging the life of cutting fluids, Coolant
Xtender technology, which has been proven by independent laboratory
tests and in field trials at machine shops, allows machine shop
professionals to save maintenance time and reduce overhead costs.
"We are extremely enthusiastic about introducing Coolant
Xtender to the machining industry, and have seen an outstanding
response from machinists and industry professionals. They have
seen the research behind this product and experienced for themselves
that the product delivers results," said Jerry Wetherbee,
CEO of Vanson HaloSource. "With substantial evidence of
Coolant Xtender's efficacy in eliminating odors and with viability
to truly help machine shop professionals reduce costs and improve
productivity, Coolant Xtender will become a staple in the industry."
Laboratory
testing by Cincinnati, Ohio-based TechSolve, a highly regarded
independent manufacturing research firm, found that Coolant Xtender
does not affect the machinability of cutting fluids. An excerpt
from TechSolve's findings notes Coolant Xtender's ability to
eliminate odors:
"After the fluid had been passed through the HaloFreshTM
Odor Control System, there was a notable decrease in the rancid
odor…Based on the individual manufacturing operation's
preference, the filtered fluid most likely could have continued
to be used, thus eliminating the time and expense of fluid disposal."
In
addition, machine shop professionals attest that the system works
effectively and quickly, and stands up to the rigors of the machining
environment. Skip Skei, a tool and die maker and programmer for
Precor fitness equipment based in Woodinville, Wash., uses the
system in his shop.
"The biggest benefit of Coolant Xtender is that it eliminates
odors," Skei said. "We've used it in our recycling
tank for months and it does a fantastic job. It's just about
zero maintenance - you drop in the HaloFresh bead bags and it
works."
Coolant Xtender brings a host of additional benefits
to machining professionals:
- Increases productivity by reducing
fluid turnover and cutting maintenance and machine downtime required
to change cutting fluid.
- Reduces purchase costs and disposal
fees by decreasing fluid turnover.
- Improves working conditions
for shop personnel by reducing offensive odors
- Has been shown
to help clean the inside of machines.
The patented technology behind
Coolant Xtender securely binds chlorine molecules to HaloFresh
beads, extending the capabilities of chlorine to prevent and
eliminate odors. Because HaloFresh technology forms extremely
tight molecular bonds with the chlorine atoms, Coolant Xtender
does not add any free chlorine to coolant. Fluid treated with
the Coolant Xtender system meets all federal guidelines for disposal.
In the system, coolant is drawn from
a machine's sump and is routed to a treatment chamber loaded
with HaloFresh chlorinated bead bags. Odors are removed when
the coolant passes through the treatment chamber and comes in
contact with the HaloFresh beads.
Coolant Xtender also is safe to use with any water-miscible
coolant and with any coolant-delivery method. The Coolant Xtender
system is easily adaptable to machine sumps up to 200 gallons,
works with any fluid-filter set up, and can be operated by any
shop floor personnel.
