HaloPure Technology (Cont.) The key component of HaloPure drinking water solutions
is the patented HaloPure resin beads that harness the power of
halogens, specifically chlorinated* or brominated contact
biocides, to enable water purification appliances to create
bacterium- and virus-free drinking water that tastes and smells
fresh and clean. Chlorinated* and brominated contact biocides
have been used for more than 100 years to effectively kill
germs. Their powerful disinfectant qualities come from their
ability to bond with and quickly destroy the outer surfaces of
bacteria and viruses.
The original technology was developed at Auburn University by
professor Dr. S. Dave Worley. HaloPure water purification
solutions come from a combination of patents, trade secrets,
know-how, microbiological and engineering expertise, and
proprietary technologies.
HaloSource spent 10 years and $15 million to scale the
chemistry; work out use and manufacturing issues; engineer the
HaloPure cartridges; and determine how to manufacture HaloPure
beads and cartridges economically. HaloSource has added several
more patents, and also perfected the technologies and
manufacturing techniques to produce HaloPure in commercial
quantities.
